The El Dorado County Fairgrounds venue is fresh off a successful 4th of July show and this Saturday is expected to bring another full pit area of race cars. Divisions converging on the red clay for Red Hawk Casino Night will be the Thompson’s Family of Dealerships Winged Sprint Cars, the Red Hawk Casino Pure Stocks, the Mtn. Democrat Mini Trucks and the traveling BCRA Lightning Sprints.

Going into this Saturday the million-dollar question everyone will be asking is certainly, “Can anybody stop the red-hot Justin Sanders?” The Aromas driver claimed his fifth Placerville Speedway Winged 360 Sprint Car win of the year on Monday and returns this weekend looking for another. Thus far in 2022, Sanders is five for five when it comes to his Winged 360 starts at the bullring.
Auburn’s Andy Forsberg continues to lead the Thompson’s Winged Sprint Car standings and even added some additional points to it following the 4th of July event. The 46-year-old goes into Saturday with an 18-digit advantage over Foresthill’s Jodie Robinson. The 19-year-old had an excellent rebound in the feature on Monday to charge her way from 17th to eighth. Bubba Decaires, Shane Hopkins and Michael Ing round out the top-five in points.
Defending Placerville Speedway champion Nick Baldwin brings the Red Hawk Casino Pure Stock point lead into Saturday. The Oakley racer continues to be a mark of consistency, having finished among the top-five at each event so far. Young Michael Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Kevin Jinkerson and reigning Rookie of the Year Jonny Walsh complete the top-five in the standings. The Pure Stocks are coming off a thrilling feature this past Monday.
For the first time in a long time, we welcome back the Mountain Democrat Mini Trucks this weekend. With three rounds complete Mike Miller leads the way but is only eight points up on Austin Struthers and Thomas Jensen. Rounding out the card on Saturday will be the BCRA Lightning Sprints, who make their third appearance of 2022. The first two events have been picked off by San Diego’s AJ Bender and Waterford’s Dakota Albright respectively.
Adult tickets this Saturday July 9th cost $18 while seniors 62+, military and juniors 12-17 will be $16. Kids 6-11 cost $8, while ages 5 and under are free. Purchase tickets online at https://www.eventsprout.com/event/points-race-11 or at the gate on race day.
