Lucrative Carnett Clash up next for Placerville Speedway on June 25th

By Gary Thomas

Placerville, CA…The Placerville Speedway is gearing up to host one of its biggest events of the season for the Pure Stocks and Ltd. Late Models on Saturday June 25th, with the annual “Carnett Clash” set to hit the red clay.

Carnett was a true fan of the stock car divisions at Placerville Speedway while racing, owning and sponsoring both Pure Stocks and Late Models throughout the decade he spent at the track.

Thanks to the support of several gracious individuals and companies, a vast amount of extra money will be on the line for both the Mountain Democrat Ltd. Late Models and the Red Hawk Casino Pure Stocks on June 25th.

Rounding out the race day bill at the Carnett are the Thompson’s Winged 360 Sprint Cars and Dwarf Cars.

“Placerville Speedway has always been our home track and I am thrilled that Scott Russell and Kami Arnold were willing to host the Carnett Clash once again,” said Forryst Carnett, son of the late Bryan Carnett. “I am hoping we can build upon the success we’ve had in previous years and have another exciting night of racing, which is the best way to remember the competitive spirit of my dad. I am incredibly grateful to Placerville Speedway, all our friends at the track and my family who all work hard to make this night a reality.”

Thanks to the generous support of several companies the Red Hawk Casino Pure Stock main event will hand out a staggering $500-to-start. The main event will dish out $850-to-win, the runner up will earn $750 and third place receives $650. It will be the most lucrative Pure Stock showcase of the season at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds venue.

In total an extra $5,000 extra has been added to the Ltd. Late Model purse thanks to Street to Sand Offroad, Filter Connection, Country Lube Automotive and the Carnett Family.

Our friends at Dirt Solution are also sponsoring a $100 Hard Charger Award for both the Ltd. Late Models and Pure Stocks during the event.

The tire rule deadline for the Pure Stock division has also been extended by one race, with the new rule going into effect during the July 4th event. Teams will be allowed to run the Dirt Bozz Style tires at the Carnett Clash. Beginning on the 4th of July event however, the only tires allowed will be the Hoosier M-30S, M-60 or the G-60 tire.
