Placerville, CA…The Placerville Speedway will present something a little different for race fans this Saturday when the inaugural “Gold Dust Fever” showcases an evening of Wingless Sprint Car and Midget competition on the bullring.

An event featuring the same divisions was held last season without fans in the stands, but now the loyal Placerville faithful can catch the back ‘em sideways action live and in person. Set to invade the El Dorado County Fairgrounds quarter-mile on Saturday will include the USAC West Coast 360 Sprinters, USAC Western States Midgets and Wingless BCRA Lightning Sprints.

“Throughout the season we enjoy offering diversity with our schedule and this Saturday is definitely part of that,” commented Promoter Scott Russell. “Placerville Speedway is a great venue for Wingless Sprint Cars and Midgets. It has been a solid year so far here and we hope everyone will come check out the USAC West Coast 360s, USAC Western States Midgets and Wingless BCRA Lightning Sprints this weekend.”

Gold Dust Fever on Saturday will be just the second injected Wingless 360 Sprint Car event at the Placerville Speedway since 2017. Last October’s USAC West Coast 360 appearance was captured by Ryan Timmons, who goes into this weekend ranking third in points behind DJ Johnson and Austin Liggett. Brody Roa and Tanner Boul round out the top-five.

The USAC Western States Midgets portion of the event will be the first of two races at the track prior to the running of the Elk Grove Ford “Hangtown 100” in November. Liggett goes into Saturday leading the standings over Shannon McQueen, Blake Bower, Brody Fuson and David Prickett.

The BCRA Lightning Sprints will make their fifth appearance of the year but first without the wings. Craig Holsted, Eric Greco and Terry Bergstrom have scooped up wins so far on the red clay.

Adult tickets this Saturday July 10th cost $22, while seniors 62 plus, military and juniors 12-17 will be $18. Kids 6-11 cost $10 and those five and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online at https://www.universe.com/embed2/events/2021-usac-west-coast-midgets-360s-gold-dust-fever-tickets-placerville-0S1597

The pit gate will open at noon, with the front grandstand gate opening at 3pm. Happy Hour is offered from 4-6pm in the grandstands featuring discounted Coors Light and Coors Original at the beer booth. The pit meeting will be held at 4:30pm with cars on track at 5. Hot laps, ADCO Driveline qualifying and racing will follow.
