Placerville Speedway hosts Mtn. Democrat Kids Bike Night this Saturday

Placerville, CA – June 18, 2019…After taking a break for the El Dorado County Fair last weekend the Placerville Speedway is locked and loaded to launch a busy stretch of racing with its annual Mountain Democrat Kids Bike Night this Saturday June 22nd.

The evening also doubles as Sierra Child & Family Services Night at the speedway. The company will have a booth set up in the grandstands during the event to talk about the services they offer with race fans. All kids 11 and under receive free admission this Saturday night and as always, children in attendance are invited to race their bikes on the track following heat race competition.

Divisions that will tackle the Placerville Speedway on Saturday include the Thompson’s Family of Dealerships Winged 360 Sprint Cars, Ltd. Late Models, the Jay’s Mobile Welding & Fabricating Pure Stocks and the popular Mini Trucks.

An autograph session featuring some of the young guns in competition including Jodie Robinson, Jesse “The Savage” Bryant and Bubba Decaires will take place pre-race, along with live music and Coors Light Happy Hour from 4pm-6pm. We are still accepting donations if you or your company would like to donate a bicycle or anything else for the kids during the night. Please email office@placervillespeedway.com with any donations.

“This is always a great show for the kids and all the families to come out and enjoy a night of racing at Placerville Speedway,” commented Russell Motorsports Inc. President and track promoter Scott Russell. “Kids Bike Night has been one of the long-standing events here and we’re happy to allow those 11 and under into the races for free on Saturday. When it comes to the future of our sport the younger generation is what it’s all about so we hope everyone can bring their kids and maybe even some of their friends this weekend.”

This Saturday marks the seventh point race of the year for the Thompson’s Family of Dealerships Winged 360 Sprint Cars. Going into it Auburn’s Andy Forsberg holds a 21-point advantage over Mather’s Kalib Henry. Forsberg is in search of an unprecedented seventh Winged 360 title at Placerville Speedway and has already gathered three victories to his credit. Rounding out the top-10 going into Kids Bike Night are Tony Gualda, Bobby McMahan, Jodie Robinson, Mike Benson, Shane Hopkins, Chris Masters, Bubba Decaires and Justin Johnson.

The Ltd. Late Models return to competition on Saturday after being idle the previous event. Ray Trimble has been the man to beat so far this season and holds onto a nine-point lead over Tyler Lightfoot at the top of the standings. Dan Brown Jr. is still within striking distance sitting third and has shown lots of speed in recent weeks. Ryan McDaniel and Jay Norton complete the top-five.

The Jay’s Mobile Welding & Fabricating Pure Stocks have had a great season so far with close action at each event. It remains a close fight at the top of the points with Nick Baldwin leading Kevin Jinkerson by just six slim digits. Jason Palmer, Mel Byers and Scott Grunert round out the top-five. The remainder of the top-10 is comprised of John Ewing, Jesse Bryant, Jason Leonard, Stephanie Hanson and Dave Silva.

On the Mini Truck side of things there is currently a three-way tie atop the ladder between Ryan Murphy, Aaron Rupley and John LittleJohn. Tom Stanwood and Thomas Jensen rank fourth and fifth heading into Saturday. The Mini Truck car counts have grown this season with the division showcasing some exciting and close racing.

Adult tickets this Saturday will cost $15, while seniors 62 plus, military and juniors 12-17 will be $13 and as noted kids 11 and under are free!
