Mountain Democrat Kids Bike Night takes place at Placerville Speedway this Saturday

Placerville, CA – July 10, 2018…This Saturday night the El Dorado County Fairgrounds located Placerville Speedway is geared up to host the annual Mountain Democrat Kids Bike Night and Red Hawk Casino championship point race number 11.

Divisions set to converge at the quarter-mile will include the Thompson’s Auto Group Winged 360 Sprint Cars, Ltd. Late Models, Pure Stocks and Dwarf Cars. All kids 11 and under will receive free admission into the grandstand on Saturday July 14. As always kids will have the opportunity to race their bikes on the speedway following heat race competition this weekend. Russell Motorsports Inc. will also be giving away two bikes to a pair of lucky children during the night.

"This is always a great night for the kids and all the families to come out and enjoy an evening of racing at Placerville Speedway," said RMI President Scott Russell. "Kids Bike Night has been one of the long-standing events here and we're happy to allow those 11 and under free to the races this weekend. The younger generation is the future of our sport, so we hope to see a lot of little ones in Placerville on Saturday."

Going into Saturday the Thompson’s Auto Group Winged 360 Sprint Cars have seen six different winners in the six events held thus far. Auburn’s Andy Forsberg is searching to add a sixth career track title to his resume and holds a 21-point lead over Hollister’s Tony Gualda in the standings. Forsberg has one win on the season while Gualda has been knocking on the door all year long. Placerville’s Jimmy Trulli ranks third in the standings, with rookie contenders Shane Hopkins of Cameron Park and Jodie Robinson of Foresthill completing the top-five.

Matt Michelli continues to lead the Ltd. Late Model standings as he searches to make it back to back championships at the Placerville Speedway. The division has also seen quite a bit of parity this season with five winners in the six events held. Jay Norton has moved to second in the points with Eddie Gardner, Tyler Lightfoot ad Ray Trimble rounding out the top-five. During the most recent event on Independence Day it was traveler Clay Daly who picked up the victory driving for Matt Davis.

The Pure Stocks have seen a close battle all season up front and Scott Grunert will bring a six-point advantage over Jason Palmer into Mountain Democrat Kids Bike Night. Palmer has led the way with five wins this season but had some tough luck on Independence Day that left him with a DNF. Rounding out the top-five in the standings going into the ninth point race of the season are Kevin Jinkerson, Lonnie Lennard and Nick Baldwin.

The colorful coupes of the Nor-Cal Dwarf Car Association will visit the speedway for third time in 2018. The prior two appearances have been captured by Danny Wagner and Ryan Winter.

Adult tickets this Saturday will cost $15, while seniors 62 plus, military and juniors 12-17 will be $13, children 11 and under are free!
