Placerville Speedway hosts Freedom Fireworks event on Independence Day
Auto racing and fireworks on deck at Placerville Speedway this Wednesday July 4th
Placerville, CA – The annual Freedom Fireworks event on Independence Day is always one of the more anticipated races of the season at Placerville Speedway and this Wednesday night the tradition continues with the 10th Red Hawk Casino championship point race of 2018.
This year’s Fourth of July spectacular will feature the Thompson’s Auto Group Winged 360 Sprint Cars, Ltd. Late Models and Pure Stocks. The evening as always will be capped off with a huge firework show to commemorate the holiday.
“The Freedom Fireworks event is always a night that race fans and teams look forward to,” said Kami Arnold of Russell Motorsports Inc. “We invite everyone to come out, grab a cold beverage of your choice and take in a great night of racing, followed by an amazing firework display. Motorsports and Independence Day always go hand in hand and Placerville Speedway is excited to continue that tradition on Wednesday.”
Auburn’s Andy Forsberg holds a one-point lead over Placerville’s own Jimmy Trulli going into July 4th, which marks the sixth point race of the season for the Thompson’s Auto Group Winged 360 Sprint Cars. So far this year there have been five different winners in the five events held. Ironically the same point gap separates Scott Grunert and Jason Palmer at the top of the Pure Stock standings, while Live Oak’s Matt Michelli maintains a 15-digit advantage over Eddie Gardner in the Ltd. Late Model standings.
Jay's Mobile Welding & Fabricating has also donated hot wheels for the first 300 kids through the gate on Wednesday! Jay's Mobile Welding is also putting up an extra $100 to each Pure Stock that starts the A-main on Independence Day! The money is in addition to the normal Pure Stock purse.
Adult tickets will cost $20 this Wednesday July 4, while seniors 62 plus, military and juniors 12-17 will be $15. Children 11 and under are free!
