Placerville Speedway Hosts Vintage Shirt Night at The Races Saturday

Red Hawk Casino championship point race 14 on tap at Placerville Speedway this Saturday Vintage T-shirt night at the races to be held

Placerville, CA – An exciting four-division program will be presented this Saturday August 12 at the Placerville Speedway, which also doubles as the final tune-up prior to next week’s prestigious Mark Forni Classic.

This Saturday is also “Vintage T-shirt Night” at the races, so be sure and break out all your old racing tees. The three best throwback shirts from 1999 or before, worn during the night, will each win a $25 gift card for the concession stand.

Overall the evening of competition marks Red Hawk Casino championship point race number 14 and the start of just three races to go before champions are crowned at the quarter-mile.

Following last Saturday’s event Visalia’s Steven Tiner has overtaken the point lead with the Thompson’s Auto Group Winged 360 Sprint Cars going into this weekend. Tiner captured a pair of wins in July and has used solid consistency recently to climb atop the ladder in search of his first Placerville Speedway title.

After leading much of the season four-time track champion Greg Decaires now sits unofficially four-markers back in second. The Elk Grove veteran has two victories this season as well and looks to find the early season mojo with just a few races left. Placerville’s Jimmy Trulli, Fair Oak’s Jake Morgan and Citrus Height’s DJ Freitas round out the top-five in the Thompson’s Auto Group Winged 360 standings.

More drivers expected this weekend will include Mike Benson, Sean Becker, Tony Gualda, Justin Johnson, Mike Cook, Cody Fendley, Kirt Organ and others.

Matt Michelli continues to lead the Ltd. Late Model standings and will be gunning for his eighth win of 2017 on Saturday. The Live Oak racer has dominated the action over recent months. More drivers expected in action this weekend looking to stop the domination will include Ray Trimble, Mike and Tyler Lightfoot, Eddie Gardner, Ken Michelli, Tim Tilford and others.

Going into Saturday Jason Palmer has unofficially taken over the point lead, following a third-place finish last week, coupled with a dnf suffered by Dan Jinkerson. Everyone is looking to stop the red-hot Orville Owens however, who has captured the last three main events. Additional drivers looking to punch their ticket into victory lane come Saturday will include Nick Baldwin, Scott and Rick Grunert, Chris Van Roekel and more.

The Mini Truck division also returns to action on Saturday. Ted Ahart has claimed three wins so far this year, while Derek Boarman has one win to his credit.

Adult tickets this Saturday will cost $15, while seniors 62 plus and juniors 12-15 will be $13, children 6-11 are $6, five and under are free! The pit gate will open at 2pm, with the front grandstand gate opening at 3pm. A happy hour will be offered from 4pm-6pm in the grandstands featuring discounted Coors Light and Coors Original at the beer stand.

Drivers meeting will be held at 4:30pm, with cars on track for wheel packing at 5pm, ADCO Driveline and Custom Exhaust qualifying scheduled to begin around 5:30pm and heat races expected to fire-off around 6:30pm.
