Double Trouble Night featuring Kyle Larson and Rico Abreu coming to Placerville Speedway next Saturd

A-main to pay $4,000-to-win plus KLR Bonus Money

Placerville, CA – The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Abreu Vineyards is excited to announce that NASCAR star Kyle Larson and two-time Chili Bowl champion Rico Abreu will both be in action at the Placerville Speedway next Saturday April 15.

Billed as “Double Trouble Night” the evening marks the second round of competition for the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Abreu Vineyards. After opening the season with 58 cars in the pits on April 1 the series is eager to invade Placerville for the first time, with Larson and Abreu adding definite star power.

Thanks to the generous support from Team Ford of Woodland, the 40-lap main event will also pay a stout $4,000-to-win, plus the Kyle Larson Racing Bonus Money that is up for grabs each night. If a team that competed in Antioch on April 1 wins the main event next Saturday in Placerville, they’ll take home $4,500 with the KLR Bonus Money factored in.

The A-main as always, will also pay a guaranteed $400-to-start. Team Ford of Woodland is located at 346 Main Street Woodland, CA 95695. To learn more about the dealership log onto https://teamfordca.com/

In 2007, at the ripe young age of 14, Larson competed in his very first sprint car race at the Placerville Speedway and also earned his initial victory at the track that same season. The El Dorado County Fairgrounds based facility was also where the Elk Grove, CA native wrapped up his Golden State Challenge Series title in 2010.

Larson recently made his first California sprint car start since winning the 2013 Trophy Cup and will return to the Placerville quarter-mile next Saturday, hoping to park the Paul Silva owned No. 57 Finley Farms Special on the front stretch. The 24-year-old currently sits atop the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup standings with one victory to his credit this season.

Abreu is fresh off a runner up finish with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Placerville Speedway recently and will be gunning to keep his good buddy out of victory lane. The Rutherford, CA fan-favorite last year captured one of California’s biggest prizes when he scooped up the 63rd annual Gold Cup Race of Champions in Chico aboard the familiar Abreu Vineyards No. 24 machine wrenched by Silva.

“We are thrilled to have both Kyle Larson and Rico Abreu compete with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour in Placerville next Saturday April 15,” said Russell Motorsports Inc. President Scott Russell. “Kyle began his sprint car career right here at Placerville Speedway so it’s always great to have him come back home. Rico has also become such a popular driver and almost won the Outlaw show here a couple weeks ago so it’ll be exciting to have him here as well. We hope everyone will come out and support Double Trouble Night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour. With the winners share being a minimum of $4,000 we look to have another strong field of cars on hand.”

The plan for “Double Trouble Night” is to have both Larson and Abreu sign autographs prior to the races, along with having numerous fan giveaways and a T-shirt toss in the stands. The Kids Dash for Cash will also be inflated to $350 worth of nickels with sponsors for the night including Mancamp Motorsports, Gary Silva Ranches and CLT Logging. One lucky boy and one lucky girl, age’s two to five, will also have the opportunity to go home with a tricycle and a helmet sponsored by Little O Racing.

Kingsburg’s Cory Eliason claimed victory on opening night with the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Abreu Vineyards and looks to make it back-to-back this coming Saturday in Placerville. Driving Rod Tiner’s No. 83sa sprinter Eliason led flag-to-flag at the opener and held off a fast closing Shane Golobic at the end. Roseville driver’s Sean Becker, Willie Croft and Hanford’s Mitchell Faccinto rounded out the top-five at the inaugural event.

Adult tickets for “Double Trouble Night” at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday April 15 cost just $20, while seniors 62 plus and juniors 12-15 will be $15, children 6-11 are $6 and those under 6 will be free. The pit gate will open at 2pm, with the front grandstand gate opening at 3pm. Drivers meeting is scheduled for 4:30pm and cars are expected to be on track at 5pm. A happy hour will be offered from 4pm-6pm in the grandstands featuring discounted Coors Light and Coors Original at the beer stand.
