Auburn veteran Andy Forsberg battled his way to the front at the halfway point and drove off to record his 78th career Placerville Speedway Sprint Car victory on Saturday night.
Sharing victory lane at the Gold Strike Calamity presented by Solace Enterprises were Wayne Trimble with the Red Hawk Casino Pure Stocks, Preston Norbury with the BCRA/WMR Midget Super Series and Matt Land with the BCRA Lightning Sprints.
The 30-lap Thompson’s Family of Dealerships feature saw Tucson, Arizona driver Nick Parker charge to the lead in impressive fashion. Sacramento’s Michael Sellers gave chase over the early stages of the contest as Parker set an ultra-fast pace up front.

After dropping to fourth on lap five, Andy Forsberg then found his footing and began to pick off cars during his march to the top spot. From lap 12 to lap 15 he was able to get by Jake Morgan, Sellers and Parker while storming to the lead.
Parker did keep him honest for a bit, but after that, Forsberg was too strong and motored off to claim his second consecutive triumph with the Thompson’s Dealerships Sprint Cars. Parker crossed the stripe in second to snag his career best Placerville Speedway finish.
Placerville’s Shane Hopkins made several impressive moves to carve his way from 10th to third in the main event. Morgan and ADCO Driveline fast qualifier Justyn Cox completed the top five.
The top 10 was rounded out by Sellers, 20th starter Bubba Decaires, 17th starter Dawson Hammes, Cole Croft and Caleb Debem. A total of 29 cars competed at the event on Saturday.
The Red Hawk Resort + Casino Pure Stocks put on a thrilling main event once again, with Wayne Trimble and Nick Baldwin racing inches from each other for much of the contest.

The stat sheet may show that Trimble led all 25 laps, however, he felt intense pressure from Baldwin, who was in search of Placerville Speedway win number 41. Baldwin hounded his rear bumper and tried desperately to find a way by.
Trimble was not to be denied on this night though and flashed to his second career Pure Stock victory. He was followed across the line by Baldwin, Kevin Jinkerson, Jason Ramos and Tyler Lightfoot.
Chino Valley, Arizona racer Preston Norbury tallied his initial Placerville Speedway win during the BCRA/WMR Midget Super Series portion of the program. Former Winged 360 track champion Michael Faccinto took the lead at the wave of the green flag.
Norbury began to apply the heat quickly, as the duo ran close together for numerous circuits. Things got a little too close for comfort on lap 11 though and resulted in Faccinto being parked the wrong direction in turns three and four.

After that Norbury had his way with things up front and withstood a closing Dane Culver to bring home the gold. Culver, Caden Sarale, Faccinto and Logan Mitchell completed the top five. Faccinto was fun to watch during his charge back through the field.
Elk Grove’s Matt Land led all 15 laps in the BCRA Lightning Sprint finale to secure his first Placerville Speedway victory in several years. Completing the top five were Bradley Schmidt, Kennedy Ramirez, Justin Norton and Kindal Barstow.
Placerville Speedway returns to action on Saturday April 25th with the annual Tribute to Donnie Tilford.
