Championship racing returns this Saturday to Placerville Speedway
Final event before Fair Break begins with giant fan event at Red Hawk Casino

PLACERVILLE, CA (6-3-13) - After a two week hiatus to allow for a special event and the Memorial Day Holiday, four divisions of auto racing will return to Placerville Speedway this Saturday night, June 8 for the sixth round of the 2013 Red Hawk Casino - Hoosier Racing Tires - Coors Light Championship racing season.
Winged sprint cars, late models and pure stocks will resume their battles for the championship crown. The three track regulars will be joined by the Midget Lites of the Bay Cities Racing Association for Saturday's event that will begin much earlier in the day with a huge race car show and live music at Red Hawk Casino.
As the track regulars converge in the final event before the annual break for the El Dorado County Fair the championship point standings are starting take shape to form another close title war that is sure to come down to the final weeks of the season. Every week so far the racing has been superb at Placerville Speedway and the attendance as been near capacity every single night as El Dorado County shows its support for its only professional spectator sport in the region that brings millions of dollars into the community in tourism revenue annually.
In the winged spring car division, defending track champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn. Forsberg sits just eight points ahead of Placerville's own Andy Gregg who has one two feature events this season while Forsberg has yet to grab a checkered flag. Jimmy Trulli of Placerville is third in the ranks and is just 21-points out of the lead while Mason Moore of Princeton is fourth. Mike Benson of Calistoga rounds out the top five ahead of Shingle Springs' Justin Johnson.
In the limited late model division, defending track champion Matt Micheli of Live Oak continues to lead the standings. Micheli is just six points ahead of 2012 Rookie of the Year Tom Tilford of Citrus Heights. Doug Grandboise of Jackson is third overall, 25 points back. Duane Zeider of Paradise is fifth in this division.
In pure stock action, Les Friend of Galt continues his quest for his first division championship with a 21-point lead over Chris VanRoekel of Grass Valley. Scotty Grunert of Woodland is third followed by Tim Mack of El Dorado and Dennis Armstrong of El Dorado.
The grandstands will open at 5 p.m. on Saturday night with ADCO Driveline Qualifying starting at 6:30. Tickets will be available at that time Adult tickets will be $14, Juniors and Seniors will be $12, Children $6.
Prior to Saturday's night of racing Red Hawk Casino will host a giant race car display in the elegant main valet entrance of the casino located on Red Hawk Parkway just off of Highway 50 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. This event will be one of the largest outreach efforts for the local speedway as some 20 race teams have already confirmed their attendance for the event
Saturday's event will feature cars from all of Placerville Speedway's divisions and members of their teams on hand to greet fans, sign autographs and give out various goodies and hero cards to fans of all ages.
Drivers and cars from all four of Placerville Speedway's divisions will be on hand for Saturday's events including Sprint Cars, Late Models, Pure Stocks and the Midget Lites from the Bay Cities Racing Association. In addition to the divisions competing that night, a select number of dwarf cars and wingless sprint cars have also signed up to strut their stuff.
Saturday's first ever "Placerville Speedway Day" at Red Hawk Casino will feature live music by singer songwriter Cynthia Renee and Guitarist Chris Kawelo. Renee is one of Placerville Speedway's primary National Anthem singers. She is the writer and performer of the original songs "Where are You Now" and "The Journey" produced by Bill Bentley productions and available on itunes and amazon. Kawelo is a veteran acoustic and electric guitarist that recently joined with Renee. The duo will be appearing at the upcoming El Dorado County Fair and appear regularly at Sienna and 36 Handles Restaurants in El Dorado Hills.
