PLACERVILLE, CA (4-16-13) - For the past two weeks, the grandstands at Placerville Speedway have been packed with fans to witness two consecutive weeks of thrilling racing on the 48 year old dirt track at the El Dorado County fairgrounds. Often times, many young fans don't get the opportunity to see their favorite cars and drivers up close, Placerville driver Andy Gregg is looking to change that.
This Saturday night, Gregg will have his #53 sprint car on display at the entry of the grandstands at Placerville Speedway at 5 p.m. The local fan favorite will be meeting fans and autographing hero cards for the youngsters as they come in the gate for another exciting night of racing.
"I want to reach out to the fans more, almost all of us do as drivers," said Gregg. "It's the fans that make this sport possible and they are why we race. A lot of the young kids don't get over to the pit area after the races because it's late. This gives them the chance to see a sprint car up close, get a picture and meet the driver. That's what it's all about."
Greg is currently fourth in the Placerville Speedway sprint car point standings. After traveling with the King of The West Series all of last season, the owner of the locally based Guts Racing has returned to his home track to compete in the entire 2013 Red Hawk Casino-Hoosier Tires Championship season.
Four divisions will be competing this Saturday night at Placerville Speedway. Along with the sprint cars will be limited late models, pure stocks and the Nor Cal Dwarf Cars. The grandstands will open at 5 p.m. on Saturday night with ADCO Driveline Qualifying starting at 6:30. Tickets will be available at that time Adult tickets will be $14, Juniors and Seniors will be $12, Children $6.To keep up with all the information on the season to come visit www.placervillespeedway.com.
