Press Release from Handy Racing Promotions Media Relations
PLACERVILLE, CA (9-18-12) - This Saturday night Placerville Speedway will host one of its most anticipated events of the racing season, the ninth annual Tribute to Al Hinds presented by Thompson's Auto Center. While this event will debut a great deal of racing talent and pull at the heart strings of those who knew the late racing promoter and community icon, it will open up with talent as well as area vocalist Cynthia Brown will present the National Anthem for the final time this season.
"It has been a pleasure returning to Placerville Speedway this year to present the National Anthem, I am very thankful for the opportunity to return where it all started," said Brown, who sang her first National Anthem publicly at Placerville 20 years ago before leaving the area for her education. "Learning what this man meant to the community and the speedway, it is a great honor to open this event."
Brown is well known to the regional music industry and has been the lead singer of many well known successful bands. Among the venues she has rocked with are The Ripoffs, Material Girl and What's Shakin'. Saturday's anthem performance will come just weeks before debuting her recently recorded singles "Surrender" and "Cruel Intentions."
Since she was 10 years old, Brown has had a passion for performing. While earning her way to her Juris Doctor Degree at Lincoln Law School she continued to indulge her passion for both music and theater. Brown has performed on the university stage while attending Vanguard University and locally she played significant roles at the Old Coloma Theater and Imagination Theater, formally known as Theater El Dorado. She also performs at weddings and private venues throughout the year.
It was 20 years ago that Brown was involved with the El Dorado County Fairground's based theater company and was introduced to Placerville Speedway when she sang on the Fourth of July. Now, she is back where it all started, following her passion of performing music.
"Music is my passion, it always has been," said Brown. "I love performing and I love singing and I am at a time in my life when I am working on making it a priority. I want to thank Placerville Speedway for giving me the opportunity to perform again this year. The fans at Placerville are wonderful and this Saturday will be no exception."
In addition to her recent performances at Placerville Speedway, Brown has performed the National Anthem at many different venues over the recent months. She returned to Placerville Speedway this year, performing on the Fourth of July for the Inaugural Tiner Classic as well as the ASCS Bullring Nationals, The Calistoga Cup and the Gold Cup Race of Champions. She has been selected to present the National Anthem for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West in April of 2013 and will soon be auditioning to sing for the Sacramento River Cats at Raley Field.
Brown has also appeared on Sacramento area television and radio as well as a recent live appearance on Dirt Vision broadcasted by the World of Outlaws. She recently auditioned for the NBC Television show "The Voice" and has performed at the Capitol Christian Center as well as donated time performing at area senior homes. The talents of Cynthia Brown will open the 9th annual Tribute to Al Hinds this Saturday at Placerville Speedway. This event will pay $3000 to the winner and will crown the 2013 Hoosier Racing Series Civil War Series Champion. Tickets will go on sale at 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the speedway box office.
