PLACERVILLE, CA (7-22-12) - Placerville Speedway is known for some of the best sprint car racing in Northern California on any given Saturday night and annually the track hosts what has become known as Wild Winged Wednesday. Well, this Wednesday is sure to be wilder than ever before as the Nationally known American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) roars into El Dorado County to ignite the foothill bullring.

This weeknight billing will thrill area fans with a high caliber event worth more than $20,000 in a single night serving of the best drivers in the nation as they go face to face with the Placerville Posse and some of Northern California's best racing talent on the banked red clay oval known best as "Old Hangtown." Some of the top gunslingers that will be taking part in the shootout include Oklahoma's Brady Bacon, Dustin Morgan, Tony Bruce Jr. and Matt Covington along with Nebraska's Jack Dover, Johnny Herrera from New Mexico and Aron Reutzel of Texas.

"This is the best of the best facing the best in the west," said Placerville Speedway promoter Alan Handy. 'We are proud to bring the ASCS National Tour back for 2012. This race is a huge financial undertaking but the great fan base we have in El Dorado and Sacramento county supports it well. Our fans and our community deserves to be on the map nationally, we have one of the greatest shows every week here supported by the greatest drivers and fans. This is a night you won't want to miss."

As they return to Placerville Speedway for just their second ever visit in track history, the ASCS will being with it a competitive battle for the 2012 National Championship. Leading the point standings entering the bulling is series point leader Jason Johnson. The Ragin's Cajun has garnered five tour victories in 2012 and looks to maintain his point lead over second place point runner Wayne Johnson. Brady Bacon is third in the overall standings with Johnny Herrera sitting fourth over Brady Loyet, Tony Bruce Jr., Seth Bergman, Dustin Morgan, Logan Forler and Gary Wright.

Placerville Speedway is the first in a California Speedweek for the stars of the ASCS. After Wednesday's program the tour travels to Kings Speedway in Hanford followed by a visit to Santa Maria Speedway. The tour was originally scheduled to compete at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night but that event was cancelled by the track promoter due to local sponsorship woes so Placerville is one of just three California appearances for this incredible series.

Advanced tickets are currently on sale for Wednesday's event through the business office of Placerville Speedway. Adult tickets are $20. Seniors are $18, juniors are $12 and children are $6. The gates to the grandstands at Placerville will open at 5 p.m on Wednesday night. All tickets are general seating for Wednesday's event. To purchase tickets in advance or for further information on Wednesday's race please contact the track business office at (916) 783-3478. Further information can also be found on the track website at www.placervillespeedway.com.
