PLACERVILLE, CA (6-6-12) - The contingent for the 2012 Placerville Speedway winged sprint car championship is continuing to take stellar shape. This Saturday night will mark the final night of racing at Placerville Speedway prior to the annual fair break and many drivers will be looking to gain extra ground in the championship point standings as they head into the brief hiatus.

Winged 360 Sprint Cars will headline the action on Saturday night along with the return of the Limited Late Models and the Pure Stocks. The Midget Lites of the Bay Cities Racing Association will also join the action to form a four division race program.

In the sprint car division, defending three time champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn continues to lead the point standings. The driver known as Mr. Excitement has three feature wins to his name this season and is the only one with multiple victories thus far in the year. Forsberg now sits with a 16-point advantage over former champion and early season point leader Greg DeCaires of Elk Grove.

Cameron Park's Stephen Allard is third in the standings and is 33-points out of the point lead while Placerville's Jimmy Trulli is fourth overall. James Sweeney of Placerville has advanced two positions into fifth just over Elk Grove's Nicole Miller.

In the Limited Late Models, the race for the title resumes after this division took a one week break. Three time winner Matt Micheli of Live Oak continues to lead the point standings in this division with a 30-point advantage over his father, Ken Micheli, also of Live Oak. Sitting behind the two North State veteran drivers is Marek Bernert of Orangevale, 31 points from the lead.

Jay Norton of Cameron Park is fourth in the standings, 66 points from the lead. Jason Englund of Citrus Heights rounds out the top five over division Rookie Tom Tilford of Citrus Heights.

In the highly competition Pure Stock division, Orangevale's Matt Tilford continues to remain undefeated with six straight wins. Tilford now holds a 20-point advantage over former champion Chris Curtiss of Placerville. Scott Grunert of Woodland is third in the point standings followed by Folsom's Dominic Stone and Placerville's Danielle Clauson who rounds out the top five.

Adult tickets are $13 for Saturday and available at the track box office. Seniors and Juniors are $11 while Children are $6. Those five and under will be admitted free.
