PLACERVILLE, CA (6-2-12) - Defending three time Placerville Speedway track champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn continued his winning ways at Placerville Speedway Saturday night for the sixth Red Hawk Casino-Hoosier Racing Tires-Coors Light championship event of the season. For the third time this season, Forsberg drive the FnF Racing #X1 sprint car to victory lane at the foothill quarter mile in a long night of racing.

Forsberg shared in celebrating with Matt Tilford of Orangevale who won his sixth Pure Stock feature event. Sean Becker of Antelope drove to an exciting victory in the Bay Cities Association Midget division and Shawn Jones won the Nor Cal Dwarf Car feature race.

In the Sprint car division, Forsberg started on the pole of the 25-lap feature event and quickly assumed the lead at the waving of the green flag. After pulling ahead by several car lengths, Forsberg was challenged late in the race by sixth place starter Kyle Hirst of Elk Grove. The two drivers sliced and diced for the lead until lapped traffic became a factor and permitted Forsberg to distance himself by several car lengths.

While Forsberg raced out in front, Placerville's James Sweeney overtook Hirst for second place and maintained the position for the remainder of the run. The driver that was on the move the entire night was Cameron Park's Stephen Allard. After a damaging heat race crash and racing his way through the B feature, Allard started 18th in Saturday's feature race and charged his way all the way up to third place for the checkered flag. Hirst finished in fourth place over Colby Wiesz of Colfax.

In the Bay Cities Association Midgets on Saturday night, sprint car veteran Sean Becker was in the seat of the competition Mike and Lori Sala owned Midget. Becker started 9th in the field and worked his way in behind leader David Prickett late in the race. After stalking Prickett for several laps, Becker made his move on the 26th lap as he muscled into the lead coming off the second turn. Four laps later Becker was followed across the line by Prickett, Scott Pierovich, Wink Schweitzer and Matt Streeter.

In the Pure Stock feature, Tilford started eighth in the field and was setting his sights on breaking his brother Tom's personal record of five consecutive feature wins. On this night, 22 cars started the feature event and Tilford had his work cut out for him to get to the front.

Dominic Stone of Folsom took the initial lead of the race from the second place starting position. With 11 laps down Scott Grunert of Woodland took the lead while Tilford was working his way in the top five. After 12 laps complete, Tilford moved in on the leader and assumed the top position. The current division point leader drove to the checkered flag ahead of Grunert, Chris Curtiss of Placerville, Chris McGinnis of Citrus Heights and William Grady of El Dorado.

In the Nor Cal Dwarf Cars on Saturday night, Shawn Jones started fourth and muscled his way into a lead he would never relinquish. Running the high side of the track, Jones held off the challenges of Ryan Winter who finished second at the line ahead of Doug Martin, Jeremy Blackshere and Kevin Bender.

Racing returns to Placerville Speedway next Saturday night in the final race before fair break. Sprint Car, Limited Late Models, Pure Stocks and Midget Lites will all form the race card. The front gates will open at 5 p.m. with qualifying starting at 6:30. For further information check www.placervillespeedway.com.
