PLACERVILLE, CA (9-1-10) - When it comes to exciting wheel to wheel racing at Placerville Speedway the up and coming Dirt Solutions Limited Late Model Division has been producing it share of fan razing excitement in these past weeks of the 2010 Red Hawk Casino Championship Series. This Saturday night the championship season comes to a close at Placerville Speedway and the Limited Late Models are sure to continue their high flying antics for this grand finale.

"I love racing in this division and I've raced in a lot of different classes through the years," said Les Friend of Galt. "We as drivers have been talking through the season and we see this division really growing in the year to come, I'm already for next year to begin. We've got great plans."

Thanks to Friend and two of his area sponsors, additional winnings will be available Saturday night for the Dirt Solutions Limited Late Model Division. A pair of Galt businesses have stepped in with added bonus money that will be distributed among the top finishing positions. Additionally, giant trophies will be awarded on this final night that will mark the inaugural "Pepsi Trophy Night" at Placerville Speedway. These oversized perpetual trophies will be awarded to the main event winners who will keep them for one year and then pass them on to the next winner of the season ending race.

Galt Rock and Concrete and Buchanan Auto Glass of Galt will be the two businesses contributing to the added purse Saturday night. Each business is tossing in an extra $100 for the evening to show their support for this class of firebreathing late model stock cars that produce on the edge of your seat action week after week.

Galt Rock and Concrete can provide customers with all their landscaping material such as planting mix, decorative rock, bark sod and retaining walls. They provide delivery of all their products and in addition to the added winnings they are offering race fans who mention this sponsorship an additional 10 percent of their next order.

Buchanan Auto Glass of Galt provides all types of automotive glass needs. Their service includes mobile repair where they will come to your location to repair or replace your auto glass for your convenience.

Entering Saturday night, former champion Dan Brown Jr. of Grass Valley maintains the point lead. Brown, who won the title back in 2008, sits 30-points ahead of Jay Norton of Shingle Springs. Brown has four victories to his name, Norton has 11 top five finishes with his season best finish of second place. Thomas Arbogast of Auburn is third in the standings over Matt Davis of Auburn and James Boss of El Dorado.

"This has been a really good year for us," said Brown, after wining his fifth feature win of the season. "I've had a ton of support this season from my family. I really have to thank my wife who took a lot of time with the kids while I went to the shop and helped with the car so many late nights. My Mom and Dad have given me tons of support and all my sponsors. Once we start the main I can forget about the points."

Friend will be another driver in attendance Saturday night, the driver who is now known at the self proclaimed "Hit Man" will look to drive to his first win of the year on the night two of his very own sponsors are padding the purse. Friend and others will be looking to outwit the aggressive moves of "Mr. Controversy" Jerry Bartlett. Bartlett, of Yuba City, has announced he will return in hopes to display the giant Pepsi Night trophy in his race shop for the coming year. Bartlett won the opening night point race of the season.

"I love these big trophy night events," said Bartlett. "It's not always about running for the money, everyone of us likes to get a big trophy to brag about. The boys are going to need to tighten the belts because Mr. Controversy is coming back for a wild final night at Placerville."

Local favorite Dennis Armstrong of El Dorado will make his final Late Model start of the season Saturday night along with fellow local driver Bob Dittmer and Mike McPherson of Placerville. Doug Grandboise is expected with the likes of Matt Micheli of Live Oak, Tom Sullivan of Sacramento and many more.

The Dirt Solutions Limited Late Models will be joined Saturday night by the winged 360 sprint cars, pure stocks and the colorful coupes of the Nor Cal Dwarf Car Association in the grand finale of the 2010 Red Hawk Casino Championship season. The grandstands at Placerville Speedway will open at 5 p.m Saturday night Qualifying starts at 6;30 followed by racing at 7. Adult tickets will be $12, juniors and seniors $10, children $5 and under six will be admitted for free. For additional information visit www.placervillespeedway.com and www.handyracingpromotons.com.
