PLACERVILLE, CA (7-15-10) - Saturday's fifth annual Mark Forni Classic is the richest night of racing at Placerville Speedway annually for the Winged 360 cubic inch powered sprints cars. Now, following a late announcement by Thomas Arbogast, the owner of Dirt Solutions, the Limited Late Model Division at Placerville Speedway will race for a record breaking bounty as well.
Entering Saturday's event, Handy Racing Promotions announced that both Stock Car divisions would receive a $250 bonus to the winner for their efforts. Thursday afternoon, Arbogast announced he would add another $250 to the Dirt Solutions Limited Late Model victory Saturday night. Now, this up and coming division will compete for an outstanding $1000 to win. "This division is really going to grow here, I can see it coming," said Arbogast, following his second feature win of the year last Saturday. "I really want to thank Alan Handy for giving us the support he has in starting the division and re-inventing the old Pro Stock class into Limited Late Models. It's an exciting division for the fans and it's only going to get better and better. Just give it time to grow." In dirt track racing, drivers are always seeking methods to prevent the collection of dirt and mud on their cars during competition. Dirt Solution's proprietary blend is specially formulated to repel mud from sticking to any surface. The product has been tested throughout many different forms of dirt track racing and has been used on Sprint Cars, Dirt Late Models, Off Road Trucks, Motor Cross, RC Cars and event at the Bonneville Salt Flats. For further information on the product visit their website at www.thedirtsolution.com. Saturday's race is the richest of the year at Placerville Speedway. While the Stock Car divisions will feature an open roster, the sprint car division features an invitational field of 28 drivers. Each of the drivers competing have earned their place on the roster of this great event by making six overall starts during the 2010 season at Placerville. Drivers that are qualified to compete in Saturday's Sprint Car race include two time Mark Forni Classic Champion Sean Becker. Additional entries include Andy Forsberg; Mike Henry; Justin Johnson; Colby Wiesz; Mason Moore; Scott Russell; CJ Humphreys; Shane Golobic; Jimmy Trulli; Jeremy Phillips; Billy Strange Jr.; Nicole Miller; James Sweeney; Trevor Canales; Chad Compton; Charlie Cagle; Josh Bates; Craig Swim; Steven Tiner; Stephen Allard, Troy Machado and Cody Lamar, David Silveria, Herman Klein and Jimmy Steward, Billy Butler and Scott Hall. Regardless who takes home the trophy and the big money on Saturday night, the Mark Forni Classic is a night that is about far more that fast cars, checkered flags and incredible paydays. It's about remembering a man that had a very short time on earth and in such a short time developed a legacy of community service that will long be remembered and appreciated by all whom benefit from it today. The track these drivers will compete on Saturday night may very well be there due to Mark's dedicated passion to insure the future of auto racing in El Dorado County. The grandstands at Placerville Speedway are expected to fill quickly this Saturday for the Mark Forni Classic so an early arrival to the speedway is suggested. Gates will open at 5 p.m. Qualifying starts at 6;30 followed by racing at 7. Adult tickets will be $12, juniors and seniors $10, children $5 and under six will be admitted for free. Throughout the week to come further details on the Fourth Annual Mark Forni Classic will be published at www.placervillespeedway.com and www.handyracingpromotons.com. |
