Pre event race car show a great success at Placerville last Saturday
Handy Racing Promotions thanks everyone who made event for a good cause a success
PLACERVILLE, CA (4-26-10) - Prior to last Saturday's second point race at Placerville Speedway nearly 20 race teams gathered at Carl's Jr. Restaurant near the El Dorado County Fairgrounds for an impressive race car display throughout the afternoon. The event drew hundreds of fans of all ages and it was for a pair of great causes; to raise awareness to find a cure for Crohn's Disease and to promote El Dorado County's leading professional spectator sport.
Handy Racing Promotions would like to extend a sincere "Thank You" to all of those who went out of their way to make this event a great success. Hundreds of dollars were raised for Kady Munroe's Steps Walk event next month. Munroe was on hand with the Nor Cal Dwarf Cars on Saturday for the Carl's Jr. event along with her parents Frank and Janis Munroe, founders of the Nor Cal Dwarf Car Association. "We want to thank the managers of Carl's Jr. for having us for this event, he could not have been nicer or more pleasant to work with along with Alan Handy and everyone from Handy Racing Promotions who put this all together," said Janis Munroe. "To all the drivers and the fans that supported this we just really want to say thank you and we look forward to making it even bigger and better next year." Kady Munroe has been fighting Crohns Disease for the last four years of her teenage life. She has started a valiant campaign to raise awareness for this incurable condition and is entered in the upcoming Take Steps Walk on May 1 at the State Capitol. Crohns Disease is an incurable autoimmune disorder that affects the intestinal tract. The Crohns Colitis Foundation of America is the leader in finding a cure this disease. Thanks to all of the racers, Placerville Speedway and Carl's Jr. perhaps we are one step closer to a cure. "Word's cannot express our gratitude to Michael Nunes, the manager of Carl's Jr along with Nannette Olson the owner of Star Acquisitions Incoporated who came up for the event," said Bill Sullivan of Handy Racing Promotions.. "This is what can happen when we all work together to make a difference. It's a win-win for everybody. A lot of people worked with us to make this event take place and we thank them and wish Kady success in her campaign." Carl's Jr. is just one of several Placerville area businesses that benefits from the weekly attendance at Placerville Speedway, which brings millions of dollars to the business community of El Dorado County between March and October annually. The local business believes in giving back to the community that supports them and it is greatly appreciated. "We've been involved with Placerville Speedway for the last couple of years in the way of events and sponsorship," said Nunes. "We love what they bring to the community. It's about families and it's a good wholesome source of entertainment for the county. We love doing events like this and look forward to more in the future." Racing returns to Placerville Speedway this Saturday night with the Civil War Sprint Cars.
