BREA, CA (9-13-09) - The West Coasts best motorcycle flat track racers will be in the spotlight when Placerville Speedway hosts round eight of Gene Romero's West Coast Flat Track Series at Placerville Speedway on the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville, September 19, 2009.

The best flat track motorcycle racers in the western United States will compete for top honors at the event, expected field will include nationally recognized riders such as WCFTS K&N Open Class points leader Steven Bonsey of Salinas, CA, Jethro Halbert second in points of Graham, Washington, Rookie sensation Mikey Martin, third in points Acampo, CA, Mike Rush, fourth in points, Gilroy, CA and Brandan Bergen, Caruthers, CA. Sixteen points separates the top seven riders in the 2009 West Coast Flat Track Series Championship.

Gene Romero's West Coast Flat Track Motorcycle Series Comes To PlacervilleA host of top-ranked, Northwest-based riders are scheduled to compete, including Eric Rickman of Orting, Washington, Ryan Anderson of Portland, OR and Tim Ricketts of Salem, OR. Riders scheduled to compete from California include Danille Diaz, Caruthers, Paul Herman, Paso Robles, Wayne Karcich, Pleasanton, Robert Bacosa, Herald, Rick Hocking, Livermore, and Anthony Mitchell, Concord.

The banked, clay 1/4-mile Placerville Speedway will showcase the traditional and uniquely American style of motorcycle racing that combines speed and agility as racers battle handlebar to handlebar, inches apart, while controlling their sliding motorcycles at high speeds. "It's known for fast and exciting sprint car racing but this Saturday night it will host the two wheeled gladiators that have no roll cages, no safety belts, minus two wheels and loaded with enthusiasm." Romero said. "The racetrack will encourage more passing, better action and excitement for fans to witness. This combined with the track prep expertise of Alan Handy promoter of Placerville Speedway, the event will be assured of a perfect racing surface that will produce the best show on dirt".

Gene Romero's West Coast Flat Track Motorcycle Series Comes To PlacervilleThe West Coast Flat Track Series encompasses the entire West Coast, sanctioning from California to Washington. Series founder Romero is a former AMA Grand National dirt track and road race champion. "Our series has sprouted wings as we are completing our twelfth season," Romero said. "The West Coast Flat Track Series of today is everything that we dreamed we could accomplish when we first began in 1998, and our racing action is second to none. We have constantly worked on ways to shape the series to create exciting, action- packed and prompt shows that are an entertainment value to all motor sports fans".

The night's program will feature the West Coast Flat Track Series' signature classes, including the run-what-ya-brung Open Class, Saddlemen Vintage Class, Top Gun 450 Class, Classic Vintage 4-Stroke Twin Class and the 250 Sportsmen Class. Inspired by the "World Of Outlaws" sprint car racing format with adjustments to fit professional motorcycle racing, the West Coast Flat Track Series also offers fans a unique, interesting racing format that includes time trials, rolling restarts, dashes for cash and heat advancement system that puts pressure on the riders and forces them to go for it at all times! The end result is an exciting, action-packed, fast-paced program that starts on time and ends on time, and one that the racers and fans alike have come to enjoy. This is a family oriented event that translates into a fun night out for all.
