Big night of open wheel racing and Pure Stock action this Saturday

Media Release from Handy Racing Promotions, Inc.
![]() PLACERVILLE, CA (8-5-09) - The 2009 Red Hawk Casino-Hoosier Tires championship racing season resumes at the ASA sanctioned Placerville Speedway this Saturday with five divisions of racing in competition.
While the Placerville Speedway Pure Stocks will resume their heated battle for the 2009 Red Hawk Casino season championship the regular weekly division will be joined by four exciting open wheel classes including the mighty midgets of the Bay Cities Racing Association along with the wingless BCRA Midget Lites, the Capital City Midgets and the fire breathing full size Wingless Sprint Cars. The BCRA Midgets always bring a great deal of excitement to Placerville Speedway. The premier division of the night will be joined by competitors from Capitol City Midget as the two divisions are working together throughout the year to improve the popularity of this traditional open wheel division. While both classes will race together on the track, two different winners will be honored at the end of the night, one from the BCRA ranks and the second from the CCM group. The Midget Lites will be competing in wingless fashion Saturday night along with the open competition Wingless Sprint cars that always put on a competitive performance here as the top wings come off, forcing drivers to work hard for their victory on the banked quarter mile. In the Pure Stock division, look for point leader Tom Tilford of Citrus Heights to lead the roster. Tilford will be working to hold off a hard charging Heather Bartlett of Yuba City. Tilford is a five time winner this year, Bartlett is a two time winner and the duo enter the night just 3-digits apart as they continue one of the most coveted battles in recent history for the track championship. Tilford is aiming to become just the second driver to claim two Pure Stock championships here in track history while Bartlett looks to become the first ever female track champion. Prior to Saturday's race, the BCRA has a big day planned with their annual "Jack London Bash Picnic" at the fairgrounds. This event will take place from 10 am until 3 and will induct nine individuals into the BCRA Hall of Fame. A BBQ lunch will be served at 12 noon. Tickets are required for lunch and can be purchased at bcraracing.com. Adults $15, children are $5 in advance. The day of the picnic adult tickets are $20. Lunch tickets are separate from admission to Placerville Speedway and proceeds benefit the BCRA Hall of Fame.
